EV Evidence publishes UK electric-car records so a buyer can compare charging costs, battery evidence and ownership terms without treating an estimate as a measurement. A nameplate card restates sourced warranty and specification facts for that model. It does not value an individual car, prove present battery health, or replace a VIN-matched recall and MOT check. Unknown remains unknown, and every conclusion keeps its source, date, scope, method and limitation visible.
How we publish
When does EV Evidence publish a conclusion, and when does it stay unpublished?
We publish a conclusion only when its source, date, scope, method and limitation remain visible. Unknown is not zero, and an estimate is never relabelled as a measurement. For UK EV decision content reviewed on 13 August 2026, a missing figure stays missing rather than becoming a default score. If evidence and the published safety boundary differ, the stricter publishable limit is used.

Should you trust a nameplate card or the individual car?
Each card restates sourced warranty and ownership facts. It does not value a car or measure battery health. Start with the nameplate, then match the individual car by VIN, first-registration date and mileage before using a warranty term. A model page is a starting point, not a used-car report, and an unavailable recall feed is not treated as proof that no recall exists.

How do you find an EV that fits the journey, charger and budget you actually have?
Start with the evidence that matters for your journeys, charging access and budget. Open the published model cards first, then treat the individual car's VIN, first registration, mileage and recall status as a separate check. Battery State of Health is only meaningful when the report names the metric and reference. A used-EV viewing still needs seller evidence, a controlled test drive and, where records are incomplete, an independent inspection.
Where are the published EV evidence records?

What can battery State of Health establish, and what can it not?
Battery State of Health is a comparison against a stated reference, not a universal property with one agreed measurement. In the E2 Huo study, it means current calibrated usable capacity divided by initial calibrated capacity. Ask what was measured before using any SoH result in a UK used-EV decision; the figure does not establish pack safety or future range.
How should you check a used EV before relying on one record?
Build the purchase decision from several matching evidence routes. Use official records, dated seller evidence, limited external observations and an independent inspection where evidence is incomplete. No dashboard estimate, MOT pass, write-off category or single battery report establishes present battery condition or future range on its own.
Charging and ownership costs
How can you work out what charging could cost without inventing a missing price?
Compare home and public charging with the assumptions kept visible. Monthly energy is entered mileage divided by entered miles per purchased kWh; each channel then applies its visible rate and fixed fee. A current Ofgem single-rate row may supply the home default when it passes freshness checks. A missing public price is not replaced with zero or an invented average.

How do you make sense of battery, MOT and viewing evidence for the same car?
Use the same questions for a viewing, a battery report and the car you already own. Separate what a record can establish from what it cannot: an MOT pass is not a battery warranty, and a capacity bar is not a written State of Health method. Keep source, date, scope and limitation next to each conclusion, including when the honest answer is that the evidence is not yet admitted.
What does used-EV due diligence require before you rely on one record?
Open the buying checklist before relying on one record. For a UK used electric car, as reviewed on 13 August 2026, use at least four evidence routes: seller evidence, external visual observation, a controlled road test and an independent professional report. The checklist distinguishes what each check can establish from what it cannot.
What does battery State of Health mean?

What clues suggest a flat 12 V battery in an EV?
Absent or erratic remote unlocking, displays, lamps or READY response can be clues to a low-voltage supply problem. Those symptoms do not prove that the 12 V battery is the cause and do not mean the traction battery is empty. Stop driving and seek assistance if the vehicle cannot enter READY or cannot maintain stable essential systems.
