EV Evidence decision tools

Calculators, checks and triage

Choose one of the seven route-owned tools below. Each tool keeps its assumptions or uncertainty visible, and a missing source never becomes a made-up zero, score or recommendation. Stable landing pages and submitted result state have separate publication decisions. Query strings and generated results never enter the canonical URL or sitemap.

Source: EV Evidence, Data provenance and traceability. Home unit rates, when used, follow the dated Ofgem energy price cap tables. Public charge-point consumer rules are summarised in the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 guidance.

How does this tools directory separate indexable pages from private results?

The directory separates stable landing pages from submitted result state. Cost and checklist landings can be indexable only after their content gates pass, while transient lookups, triage, policy screening, query strings and generated results remain noindex. Every linked tool exposes its own assumptions, source availability or safety boundary instead of filling absent evidence with a default.

Which EV Evidence tools can you use, and what does each one refuse to invent?

The directory links to seven tools for charger status, two charging-cost uses, charging time, used-EV checks, 12 V triage and grant screening. Use a tool only for the task on its landing page. A missing snapshot, forecast, tariff or policy answer stays visibly unknown, and none of these tools issues an approval, diagnosis, repair instruction or price guarantee.

  • Charger status — live snapshot, unknown if missing.
  • Home charging cost calculator — visible energy, tariff, loss and standing-charge inputs.
  • Home vs public charging — same mileage, no invented public average.
  • Best time to charge — forecast window or an honest unavailable state.
  • Used EV checklist — print-friendly evidence list, no personal data collection.
  • 12 V triage — stop, observe or recovery hand-off from a stated symptom.
  • Charger grant check — policy-tree screening, never an approval.

What does the charger status tool check?

Check a postcode against the currently available charge-point snapshot. Missing or unavailable live data stays visibly unknown. The landing page and submitted results are transient and noindex, because a live lookup is not a permanent public record. The tool must not convert a missing snapshot into a working charger, a score or a route recommendation.

Canonical route: /tools/charger-status/

The landing page and submitted results are transient and noindex.

How does the home charging cost calculator work?

Estimate a home-charging scenario with the energy, tariff, charging-loss and standing-charge assumptions kept visible. The stable landing page can be indexed after its content gate passes; submitted results are transient and noindex. A missing tariff or loss figure stays unknown instead of becoming a zero cost.

Canonical route: /tools/home-charging-cost-calculator/

The stable landing page can be indexed after its content gate passes; submitted results are transient and noindex.

How does home charging compare with public charging?

Compare adjustable home and public charging scenarios without turning a missing public price into a zero or an average. Monthly energy is entered mileage divided by entered miles per purchased kWh; each channel then applies its visible rate and fixed fee. A current Ofgem single-rate row may supply the home default when it passes freshness checks.

Canonical route: /tools/home-vs-public-charging/

The stable landing page can be indexed after its content gate passes; submitted results are transient and noindex.

When is a lower-carbon time to charge?

Look for a lower-carbon charging window from the current forecast, with an honest unavailable state when the forecast cannot support one. The landing page and submitted results are transient and noindex. A missing forecast is not replaced with a typical hour, a cheap-rate claim or a recommendation to start charging now.

Canonical route: /tools/best-time-to-charge/

The landing page and submitted results are transient and noindex.

What does the used EV checklist prepare?

Prepare a print-friendly evidence checklist for a used-EV viewing without collecting personal information. The stable landing page can be indexed after its content gate passes; generated checklists are transient and noindex. The page does not appraise a car or convert a completed checklist into a buy recommendation.

Canonical route: /tools/used-ev-checklist/

The stable landing page can be indexed after its content gate passes; generated checklists are transient and noindex.

What does 12 V triage do with a symptom?

Choose an observed low-voltage symptom and receive a conservative stop, observe or recovery hand-off. The landing page and submitted results are safety-triage state and noindex. The tool does not diagnose the failed component, jump-start the vehicle, or treat a 12 V clue as traction-battery state.

Canonical route: /tools/12v-triage/

The landing page and submitted results are safety-triage state and noindex.

What can the charger grant check tell you?

Screen answers against the current policy tree for a possibly eligible, ineligible or manual-check outcome—never an approval promise. The landing page and submitted policy-screening results are noindex. The tree cannot authorise an installation, reserve a grant or replace the current administering body's rules.

Canonical route: /tools/charger-grant-check/

The landing page and submitted policy-screening results are noindex.
