Freshness and update schedule

Freshness is evaluated for each claim from its actual as-of time, effective period, source reachability and change fingerprint. Live status and prices expire quickly, while stable safety material has longer but finite review limits. A stale or unavailable source removes the affected value, calculation, rank and recommendation rather than resetting its date or showing zero.

EV Evidence uses maximum review limits from 15 minutes for live chargepoint status to 24 months for eligible Green safety sources, with shorter effective dates taking priority. The limit is fail-closed: stale, changed or unreachable evidence leaves the dependent value unknown and removes calculations or rankings.

Freshness state

The record keeps as-of, checked-at, valid-from, valid-to, service-level interval and status. Stale means the review limit has passed, the source is unreachable, the effective period ended, the source changed since access or a required as-of value is absent. Build time does not refresh source time.

Minutes and days

Live chargepoint status has a maximum age of 15 minutes. Public and home charging tariffs have a maximum review interval of 7 days or an earlier provider end date. Council cross-pavement policy, OZEV grants, VED, BiK and other statutory rates are reviewed within 30 days and never beyond their official effective-to date.

Ninety-day review

Public chargepoint regulation claims, operator annual reliability and the current IET or BS 7671 version and errata have a maximum 90-day review interval. An annual metric still names its calendar year; a recent access date does not turn an earlier reporting period into current live performance.

Safety review

Red accident, fire and other safety sources are reviewed within 6 months. General Green sources may run no longer than 24 months and Amber no longer than 12 months, unless an earlier source date applies. Manufacturer handbooks are bound to the exact market, model year and version; an unknown version is stale immediately.

What happens when stale

The affected claim is removed from steps, calculations, scorecards, recommendations, metadata, search and structured data. Historical context may remain only with a visible stale label and without driving eligibility or decisions. Unknown does not become zero, and a failed fetch does not overwrite the last successful snapshot with an empty array.
